Generally, normal home blocks are located within the Gloucester Township (itself divided in two by Phillip Street with the older areas to the north characterised by a grid pattern with rear lane access and newer areas to the south)  or the satellite village of Barrington.

Larger blocks of ½ha to 4ha can be found in the newer estates of Phascogale near Barrington.

The Meadows to the north of town and Moonlight Circuit, Avon River Estate and Forbesdale Estate to the south. They also sit along the main roads into and out of town.

Agricultural properties of a few to hundreds of acres radiate away from the town following the river valleys.

Lifestyle blocks of all types tend to be located in the more rugged areas of the river valleys to the west and north of Gloucester.
